I had to look it up, but yes, "semantic inflation" must be the proper linguistic term for what's happening with "immersive." How funny that to me that the spreading out or dilution of a word's specific meaning (as in the case of "awesome") feels like DEflation, as though too much air had been let out of the word.

Semantic inflation might be the correct "official term", but I think I like "semantic deflation" better 🙂
